About the Church

Our history began in 1848 at Civil Bend(near present Percival). The Union Church held weekly prayer meetings and Sunday school, the first in the township and county. Soon three congregations developed: the Congregational Church in 1861, the Baptist Church in 1863, and the Methodist Church in 1888. In 1920 the three churches formed one church, The Federated Church of Percival, Iowa. In 1927 and 1928 a combined church and community center was built. The dining room and Sunday school department was the original Methodist Church, and lumber from the Congregational Church was used for the sanctuary. Material from the Baptist Church was used to build the parsonage. Later a Sunday school room and restrooms were added. Many other improvements have been made through the years. Pastor Blaine Pritchett is currently serving as Pastor.
