 Good Morning!

Thanksgiving Day hopefully reminded us once again to count our blessings and to be thankful and grateful.

To "Be present in all things and thankful for all." ~ Maya Angelou

So as we leave November behind, remember to

"Give thanks not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day of your life.  Appreciate and never take for granted all that you have." ~ Catherine Pulsifer

Pray for Kristin that her therapy will help her get stronger every day. Dale Rogers passed away. Please keep his family, especially his mother Ardis, in your prayers.

Happy Anniversary to Jerry and Jo Ann Birkby on the 2nd!
Happy Birthday to Marcia Little on December 5th!

This is the first Sunday of Advent when we light the Prophecy candle. I would like to encourage you to read Isaiah 9:6-7. The videos also proclaim the coming of the Messiah.

Another Hamburg building going down. The old Marie's and Bill's Barber shop building. Marie's had such beautifully decorated windows especially at Christmas time. I wish we could locate some photos to share.

*Sorry for the delay in posting Sunday's blog post.  Our area was without internet for several hours.

Good Morning everyone. As Thanksgiving approaches, and as different as it may be this year, let us remember...there is always, always something to be thankful for.

 November 21-22

Happy Thanksgiving!

Please pray that all our congregation will stay healthy and safe during this holiday season.  Pray for Beth and David for the loss of their brother-in-law.  Continue to pray for Kristin Handy.  She will be moving to an intensive rehab facility on Monday.  Pray for Phyllis's granddaughter, Heather and her family.  Her husband and son have mild cases of Covid.

Congratulations to Jerry and Jo Ann's granddaughter, Autumn.  She is beginning her career as a surgery nurse at Jenny Ed.  Mary Ruiz, a former Percival Sunday School student, is also starting her first RN job.  May God keep them safe as they help others.

Happy Birthday to Delores Sheldon!

Mark your calendar!  On December 15th at 8:00 pm, Iowa Public TV will have a special musical program called, "Home for Christmas."  It will feature Jim McDonough.  He is a pianist from Iowa.  I used his CD's many times at church.  The videos this week are for Thanksgiving.  The song "What a Wonderful World," reminds us that we have so much to be thankful for.  I challenge each of you to make a list of all the things you are thankful for.  When we focus our attention on our blessings, it helps to distract us from the problems of the world.  Remember all the videos are archived on this blog so you can go back and enjoy them over and over.  ~ Mary

Last week Mary asked if we had any Thanksgiving thoughts we would like to share. Here is what I feel Thanksgiving 2020 means to me.  As we all know, this year has been difficult to say the least, dealing with the aftermath of a devastating flood and the ongoing pandemic, not to mention our own personal struggles and hardships.  While we are all in different seasons of life, I have found that within each of those seasons, there are lessons we learn.  This year two things really stand out for me.  Thankfulness and gratitude. I am  working hard at focusing more on what I do have rather than on what I don't.  To be more appreciative, to not take even the most simplest of blessings for granted, as I have been shown how quickly we can lose so much. So this Thanksgiving, and every day forward, I am choosing to be grateful and to thank God daily for the abundance of all my blessings whether great or small. ~Mindy

 Happy Sunday everyone!

Looking out my window one afternoon, I was in awe of how calm and peaceful everything appeared. No hustle and bustle, no cars driving by, just a serene moment in time. I snapped a photo as this is very rare living on a main street. This quiet moment reminded me that whether we are in the midst of noise or calm, God is still God. And He is with us always. ~ Mindy

 Good Morning!

When I asked for prayer requests this week, the most common concern was Covid 19.  As it continues to spread everywhere, pray for everyone's safety.  Hopefully, we can all work together to slow the spread by wearing masks and avoiding crowds.  Phyllis told me her granddaughter Heather's husband has Covid.  He is an ICU nurse working with Covid patients every day.  Pray for all the health workers who are risking their lives to care for patients.  Pray for the teachers, administrators, cooks, janitors, bus drivers, and students who are trying to continue in-person learning.  Kristen Handy needs lots of prayers as she is not improving. Barb Handy requested prayers for her daughters and their families.  Brian's father passed away this week.  Dana's husband Terry, has been in the hospital.

Birthday blessings to Sara Zach whose birthday was on the 14th!  Grace Zach and Madison Hammons will celebrate their 16th birthdays on the 19th.

Despite all our concerns about Covid, there are always lots of things to be thankful for.  That's why I chose the first video, "Count Your Blessings."  The second video is a newer song, "Thankful."  I am curious what you think of it.

Maybe somebody has some Thanksgiving thoughts they would like to share on the blog next week. Please let myself or Mindy know.  ~Mary
