Sunday, January 31, 2021

Happy Sunday Morning on this last day of January.  It sure has been a cold and snowy month, but I guess that's to be expected.  No matter how long the winter...spring is sure to follow.

January 29-31

Please continue to pray for all the members of our congregation. Please remember Larry Moyer in your prayers.  He had rotator cuff surgery on Tuesday.

February 3rd is the day to celebrate! It will be Marjorie Bennett's birthday, Jan Zach's birthday, and Penny and Larry Warren's anniversary!  Best wishes to all!

As Marge will be celebrating her 96th Birthday February 3rd, we thought it would be nice to send her a card and make her day extra special.   Birthday greetings can be sent to: Marge Bennett, 1009 Argyle Street, Hamburg, IA  51640

Thought I would share the progress of the Dollar Store in Hamburg.  It will be so nice to have, especially with no grocery store in town.  Don't know the opening date, but hopefully not far off!

Another cute little snowman picture I came across.  Seeing pictures of snowmen calls out to my inner child...makes me want to go out and build one! I've been tempted, but I'm afraid my neighbors would wonder what that crazy lady was up to.  On the other hand, it would give them something fun to look at, so I don't know.  Never was good at making decisions! Wonder if I could get a squirrel to join in on the fun!

As you recall, last week I shared my thoughts on "flowers in the snow."  Look at this beautiful picture I found posted by Instagram account coolchicstyle.  Stunning!

One last share...  my early morning view with the downtown street lights still on. Thought it made for a pretty picture.

The future lies before you, like a field of fallen snow, be careful how you tread it, for every step will show.

Have a great week!

Good Morning everyone! I see that we have a Winter storm warning from 6 am Monday to 3 am Tuesday. Heavy snow expected with accumulations of 6 to 12 inches.  So yes, January is in the air! ~ Mindy

January 23-24

Remember to thank God for answered prayers. I am so grateful we made it through Inauguration Day without any violence. Pray for President Biden and all our elected officials.

I came across this picture on Instagram posted by Daniela Behr.  I've always thought fresh flowers and snow are so pretty together so when I saw this cute snowman with a fresh flower bouquet, I found it adorable and wanted to share.

It made me think of this photo I took years ago with flowers in the watering can amid the snow.

And this photo I took one year when I plopped some flowers on the fresh fallen snow. It's such a pretty contrast.  Flowers in the snow remind us Winter is not forever. ~ Mindy

Good Morning!  Hope everyone was able to stay safe and warm and close to home throughout the blizzard Friday!

 January 16 - 17

Please pray for a peaceful, safe Inauguration Day.  Beth Lueth's son-in-law, Thomas, will be one of the thousands of National Guardsmen there.  Her niece will be on standby should violence erupt in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Pray that our country will heal.  Pray for a smooth, quick distribution of the Covid vaccine.  Jo Ann reported that residents of Fremont County are to get their shots at Grape Community Hospital. You can call the hospital and get on their list.  They will call you back when it is your turn. When I called, the lady said they were focusing on people over 75 or over 65 with severe health problems now.  Please pray for Gary Hudnall and his family.  Gary's mother passed away.

Happy Birthday to Larry Warren (17th), Nancy Newlon (18th), and Lynn Handy (20th)!

The videos this week focus on serving our Lord by spreading His word and helping others. You might want to read 1 Samuel 3:1-10.  This is the scripture that inspired the song, "Here I am, Lord."

As I was searching for videos this week, I discovered The Singing Contractors.  These are two construction men who started singing with each other while "on the job."  Someone posted one of their songs on YouTube and it went viral.  Now they even have an album!  They are sharing their faith through music.  Think of ways you can use the talents God has given you to help others. ~ Mary

Good Morning!

January 9 - 10

Please pray that God will guide our congregation in 2021 and keep us safe.  Pray that Pastor Blaine's son Danny, Joan's son Mike, and Kris Handy will continue to make steady progress in their healing.

Happy Birthday, Eryn Warren! (January 10)

We definitely need to pray for our country.  Following the attack on the Capitol this week, I decided to choose "God Bless America" for the first video.  Pray that God will bless the United States by keeping us safe and guiding our elected officials so we will have a smooth transition of power. ~ Mary

This past week, the song that his been brought to the forefront of my mind is, "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus."  A song I haven't heard or sung in awhile, but chose to suddenly come to me. Perhaps a little nudge, a little reminder as to where to put my focus. Thank you Lord for inserting those little unexpected reminders at those times we need it most.  ~ Mindy

Let's begin the new week by doing all things with love.

The second video is "He is the Gift.". Jesus truly is the greatest gift ever given to us!

Do You Have Room

He is the Gift

Now that the holidays are over, I am not sure which direction to take with the videos. I would appreciate any suggestions you have. Do you have a favorite hymn you would like to hear? ~ Mary
