Good Morning~

 Easter Sunday
Lenten Awakening
“Easter People”

 Call to Worship and Prayer

Hymn  “Christ the Lord Has Risen Today

 Tithes and Offerings

 Doxology

 Hymn  “My Tribute

 Praise and Prayer

Responsive Reading: Easter People, We Cling

Leader: This first Easter day, the Christians’ new Sabbath, opens with a living Jesus - not a resuscitation, a resurrection! Jesus with an eternal body. The bonds of the grave are torn asunder and the burst of a new life emerges.

All: Having lived our earthly life with us for over thirty years and having tasted death for us, he brings to life a new thing, a first, a resurrection. He awakens not as he fell asleep in death, he awakens clothed with eternity.

Leader: We’ll follow the story. We’ll follow those disciples who obey and go to Galilee, to the place Jesus tells them to go.

Narrator: Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. (Matthew 28:16-17)

Leader:. Like some of them, we may have doubts. But we still go looking where he said he would be. He comes close to us because we take the risk of obedience and follow him.

All: The obedience may be slow in coming, owing to our own unreadiness at first, or our uncertainty, or our doubt. But then, sooner or later, a peace comes, and then an awakening. We’re now ready to meet our calling from Jesus:

Narrator: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Leader: Thus is the calling of every disciple of Jesus, every person who claims to be a Christian. Every follower of Jesus, in one way or another, follows him into the world, whether that world is as close as the neighbors on our street or as far away as the other side of the globe. We are all sent into the world to act like and speak for the living Christ.

All: We are Christ’s awakeners, called to lead the awakening wherever we live our lives. We heed the call:

Narrator: “Wake up, sleeper! Get up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” (Ephesians 5:14b)

Leader: We are bearers of the light-revealing Light of the world. We are driven by the same question on the minds of the two women: “Where has Jesus gone?”

All: We, like they, really want to find the living Lord. We set out in faith, and on the way of our obedience he appears, and as we love him and worship him, the way before us begins to become clear. So does our calling as his awakeners.

Leader: Our lives, our words, become a wake-up call and an invitation to those we meet along the way. This is the fulfillment of our lives.

 Palm Sunday

Our Sunday School class led our congregation in praising Jesus this Palm Sunday.  They waved palm branches in the opening procession.  Then they sang "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in my Heart."  We are so happy to have the children and their families worship with us.    ~ Mary Zach

Thank you to Jan Zach for taking pictures for us to enjoy.

Responsive Reading: “Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King”

Leader: After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them,

All: “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a cold tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”

Leader: Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?”

All: They replied, “The Lord needs it.”

Leader: They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:

All: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Leader: Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

All: “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Leader: As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace - but now it is hidden from your eyes.

All: The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

And before you go, here's  a fun little share this morning.....

How many of you have enjoyed, at one time or another, watching, "The Little House on the Prairie?"  Or maybe you have read the book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  The TV show "Little House" is presently celebrating 50 years!  The show ran from 1974 to 1983 and many generations are still viewing it yet today.

Good Morning!

 Lenten Awakening

“Jesus Uniting Us”

 Call to Worship and Prayer

 Hymn  “Onward Christian Soldiers”

 Tithes and Offerings

 Doxology

 Hymn “How Firm A Foundation”

 Praise and Prayer

Responsive Reading: Jesus Prays for All Believers

Leader: We can thank Paul for teaching us that the church is like a human body made up of its different parts. We are those parts, working together to enable the church to fulfill its purpose. God has made Christ the head of this body, and when the body follows the head, it expresses “the fullness of Christ” himself (Ephesians 1:22-23)

Women: The gifts are given to members of the body to equip the church for service and to build up the members of the body (Ephesians 4:11-13).

Men: And we grow, joined and held together by Christ, the head, as we build ourselves up in love and make our important contributions (Ephesians 4:16).

Leader: Sounds wonderful, but as Paul learned quickly, it doesn’t always work to perfection, because of both our own imperfections and sinfulness. Paul himself acknowledges this again and again in his letters.

All: I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery, they deceive the minds of naive people. (Romans 16:17-18).

Leader: Jesus prayed for all believers: “Father, may they all be one as You are in Me and I am in You: may they be in Us, for by this unity the world will believe that You sent Me. All the glory You have given to Me, I pass on to them. May that glory unify them and make them one as We are one, I in them and You in Me, that they may be refined so that all will know that You sent Me, and You love them in the same way You love Me. (John 17:21-23).
