Here are some pictures to share with you taken of our pretty spring flowers that have begun to bloom.
I personally wasn’t in church last Sunday but I guess for those that were, it was quite an experience! They heard a loud boom and discovered that lightning apparently struck this tree out front. You can see where it removed the bark. A little too close for comfort I’d say!

A few of us stayed after church last Sunday to make some May Baskets and we were very happy to have the much needed help of Evan Lang. As you can see, he took his job very seriously and turned out some wonderful baskets. Thanks Evan, you did an awesome job!

Nancy Newlon's observed in the last newsletter that spring isn't just a
season for yearly planting and flowering, but one of renewal of our
spirit. Let's sweep out the cobwebs of old thoughts, tired feelings,
resentments, and rejuvenate our faith with clear thinking, fresh
prayers, and the sound of original ideas. We may be following traditions
established over time, however there is always something new around us
ad we grow, learn and see the changes in the world.
*This year, as we ready for the Easter season celebrations, there are
members of our congregation who have new jobs and horizons, studied near
and far, celebrated milestones, welcomed new babies into the family, and
so forth. All these things color our thoughts and prayers in creative
ways. As we attend Palm Sunday pancake breakfast and service, Maundy
Thursday dinner, and Easter service, what is there new in our hearts
that makes everything so bright and hopeful?
*At the beginning of April how about a group of us getting together to
help Phyllis Layman make May Baskets on the 6th after the morning
service. Jan Zach will be directing the kitchen crew for the 8:30
pancake breakfast on Palm Sunday. Paul will furnish palm branches for
the service. Barb and Joan will bring wine for the Maundy Thursday
dinner at 7:00 p.m.on the 17th. Also plan on Bible Study to take place
the first and fourth Sunday of April. You might also notice attention
being given to the garden by Nancy and friends. Come join the activity!

all our lives, some of them are: Patrick Henry's " Give me liberty or
give me death," The Alamo or Lincoln's "Fourscore and seven years ago,"
F.D. R's"This day will live in infamy!" President Kennedy's, "Ask not
what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
*On a personal level a mother's words, "I love you, Blaine," or my
parents famous phrase, "Because I said so!"
*However no greater phrase rings more brilliant or resonates clearer
than "He Is Risen." As a Pastor, a Christian, an individual of faith,
"He is risen" expresses a hope and eternal assurance that makes each and
every day worth living. "He is Risen" means that I too will one day
experience the ultimate reality that death is swallowed up in victory
and that I like Christ will receive a new spiritual body fit for life in
His Father's glorious Kingdom called Heaven.
For me, "He is Risen" is the greatest phrase ever spoken.

The most difficult step in growing spring flowering bulbs is remembering
to plant them in the fall. Last October I did remember to plant some
tulip and daffodil bulbs in the church flower beds.
Spring flowers announce to me the *cold and snow of winter* is over and
spring is here.
I did borrow the title of this article from the popular hymn, Hymn of
Promise. In 1985 Natalie Sleeth composed both the text and music to
Hymn of Promise. She wrote it at a time when she was *pondering the
ideas of life and death, spring and winter, Good Friday and Easter and
the whole reawaking of the world that happens every spring.*
This spring when tulips and daffodils greet me as I come to church, they
will not only say to me that winter is over and spring is here. Because
of the Hymn of Promise these spring flowers will take on a much deeper
meaning.
THERE IS A REAWAKING OF THE WORLD THAT HAPPENS EVERY SPRING.

Mike greeted us Sunday morning wearing the green. Thanks Mike for immediately putting a smile on our faces as we came in the door!
After the service we enjoyed some “green” snacks and fellowship!
