We listened to the song (click on the following link to listen to song) “I Can Only Imagine” a single recorded by Christian rock band Mercy Me. Written and composed by lead vocalist Bart Millard.  Such a beautiful song!

Thank you to Mary Zach for planning the service this morning and to everyone who shared photos and precious memories of their loved ones.

Spring

From the Pastor…

It’s springtime and the farmers are in the field planting corn and soy bean seeds. What a miracle! Those seeds have no brain, yet they know exactly what to do. They know what they will become when they grow up. For example, I’ve never seen a marigold huff and puff to be a petunia. Instead all seeds know that God the Creators plan is exactly right, down to their roots.

Contained in each seed is all the information needed to produce stalks, tassels, ears, pollen, leaves, stems, pods and blossoms. Most of the work of a seeds creation takes place underground, so while only the stems, blossoms, and fruit receive our compliments. We actually should applaud what is beneath.

The next time you plant a seed remember God has a plan for your life as well. Your life already has a blueprint or design of how you can please God and accomplish his purpose in you.

God is the giver and sustainer of life. In Psalm 100:3 it states, “Know that the Lord is God; it is He who makes us and we are His. We are His people; the sheep of His pasture.” Let each of us discover God’s blueprint for our life and then seek to live by the plans he has laid out for each of our lives.

Followed by singing and dancing.

There were several craft projects everyone could make. Easter cards were being made here.

Another fun project was making stained glass crosses to hang in a window.

They could also take a turn at Bingo.

For refreshments, everyone had a Resurrection roll. Here, Barb Handy is showing how they are made. You take a crescent roll and flatten it out. This represents the linens Jesus was wrapped in. You then take a large white marshmallow, which represents our sinless Savior, and roll the marshmallow in butter, representing the oil Jesus was anointed with. Next, roll it in spices just as Jesus was wrapped in linen and spices. You then seal the marshmallow in the roll just as Jesus was sealed in the tomb. Place in the oven and bake.

Here Joan Tiemeyer is showing what happens after they have baked.

You tear them open and just like the tomb, they are empty. The marshmallow disappeared. Jesus is risen! It really was neat to see!

Thank you Mary Zach for planning this fun celebration and to all those that helped!

Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter

The Seder Meal is commemoration of the Exodus story and God’s Providence in delivering His people from Egypt. Twelve of us and Pastor Blaine gathered to celebrate and remember our Lord’s establishment of a New Covenant through giving Himself as Sacrifice for our sins.  This New Covenant is grounded in relationship with Christ through grace and faith.
