 Good Morning!

 “Do the Job”

 Call to Worship: James 3:13-18

 Hymn #323 “Holy, Holy, Holy"

 Hymn #318 “Come, Thou Fount

 Praise and Prayer

 Responsive Scripture: James 2:14-2

Responsive Scripture James 2:14-26 Faith and Deeds

Leader: 14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?

All 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.

Leader: 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

All: 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Leader: 18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

All: 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

Leader: 20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?

All: 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?

Leader: 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.

All: 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.

Leader: 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

All: 25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?

Leader: 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead

 Special Music: “Faithfully” by TobyMac

 Sermon: “Faith, Deeds and Wisdom”

Hymn #337 “Praise To The Lord”

 Benediction: Lamentations 3:21-25

Good Morning!

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.~ James 1:22

I know I have shared this before but again it brings to memory a Sunday School song I sang as a child. I only knew the first verse but apparently there were 3 more. I'm so thankful these songs I sang years and years ago, continue to live on in my heart today. ~Mindy

For those unfamilar with the song you can click HERE to hear the tune.

The B-I-B-L-E
Yes that's the book for me
I stand alone on the word of God
The B-I-B-L-E

The B-I-B-L-E
I'll take along with me
I'll read and pray and then obey
The B-I-B-L-E

By F-A-I-T-H
I'm S-A-V-E-D
I'll stand alone
on the word of God
The B-I-B-L-E

The B-L-O-O-D
That Jesus shed for me
Cleansed me from sin
I belong to Him
The B-L-O-O-D

 “Do the Job”

 Call to Worship: James 1:1-8

 Prayer

 Offering and Doxology

Hymn #32 “How Firm A Foundation”

 Responsive Reading: James 1:19-27

Leader:19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,

All: 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

Leader:21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

All: 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Leader:23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror

All: 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

Leader:25  But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

All: 26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

Leader:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world

 Good Morning!

 December 31st

 Jesus is Lord

 Hymn “The First Noel”

 Responsive Reading

Hymn “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear”

 Praise and Prayer

Special Music: "Make Room" by Casting Crowns

 Special Music lyrics:

A family hiding from the storm,

Found no place at the keeper's door

It was for this a Child was born,

To save a world so cold and hollow

The sleeping town, they did not know, That lying in a manger low

A Savior King who had no home, Has come to heal our sorrows

 Chorus:

Is there room in your heart? Is there room in your heart?

Is there room in your heart, For God to write His story?

Shepherds counting sheep at night, Do not fear the glory light

You are precious in His sight, God has come to raise the lowly

 Chorus

 Refrain:

You can come as you are, but it may set you apart

When you make room in your heart,

And trade your dreams for His glory

Make room in your heart (2x)

Mother holds the promise tight, Every wrong will be made right

The road is straight, the burden's light,

For in His hands, He holds tomorrow

 Chorus

 Refrain

Make room in your heart (4x)
