Scripture- Philippians 1: 1-11
Message
“Joy in Challenging Times”
Philippians
was written by Paul as a “thank you” to the Philippian Church as
he was under arrest in Rome awaiting his trial before Caesar. He
wanted to convey how everything was going with him in the difficult
times of his day.
In
this introduction to the church, Paul gives some specific reminders:
- Verse 3- He remembers the church on every occasion.
- Verse 4- He remembers them in prayer and uplifts specific requests with joy.
- Verse 5- He recalls times of fellowship, especially with the Gospel of Christ, from beginning to end.
- Verse 6- Paul is confident that what God has begun He will finish.
- Verse 9- The love of the Lord and each other will grow and abound.
- Verse 11- All glory and praise be given to God no matter how difficult the circumstances.
As members of Percival Community
Church, we also need to put into practice these spiritual habits and
attributes so that the ministry and mission of the
church
will continue through the days, weeks, and months ahead, regardless
of our situation. These guidelines can be accomplished whether we are
physically present or not. May God’s Word be “a lamp unto my
feet and a light unto my path,” Psalm 119:105
