Responsive Reading: Matthew 8:18-27

Leader: 18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he
gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

All: 19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I
will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

Leader: 20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and
the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not
where to lay his head.

All: 21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer
me first to go and bury my father.

Leader: 22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the
dead bury their dead.

All: 23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples
followed him.

Leader: 24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea,
insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was
asleep.

All: 25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying,
Lord, save us: we perish.

Leader: 26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of
little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea;
and there was a great calm.

All: 27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is
this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Benediction: Lamentations 3:21-25

21  This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope

22  It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed because his compassions fail not.

23  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24  The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25  The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

If you remember last week I shared a picture of the light pouring in the church window and how it brought to mind the song, "Open Up Your Heart and Let the Sunshine In."

Well, our dear friend Nancy Newlon sent me a couple of photos she had taken in her apartment, with the following message....

"I have my own little rainbow of colors in my apartment to remind me of the song, 'Open Up Your Heart, and Let the Sunshine In.' 💖

Thank you so much Nancy for sharing these photos with us! They're simply beautiful!

Hope this encourages us to be mindful when we see the light come pouring in our home.  May it always make us smile and remind us to open up our heart and let the sunshine in!  Where does the light sneak in to your house?

Would love to see some pictures if anyone would like to share!

Old churches must not simply stand as monuments to the past but as spiritual grandparents that have invested in the future by passing on their life to others and releasing their offspring to form new congregations. ~ unknown
